How To Remove Cheese Stains

Today happens to be national cheese toast day. For the cheese lovers out there, celebrate loudly and eat good cheese! It goes well in our pasta, mac and cheese, pizza, and toast! However, cheese dropping on your clothes is not a good sight and if you need guidance on how to remove cheese stains, this blog will help you!

Scrape The Cheese Stained Area

First things first, don’t wet the cheese stains when you first notice them. Instead, try to scrape as much of the cheese stain using a paper towel.

Pre-Treat And Wash Gently

To remove cheese stains, always read the care labels to be extra cautious with your garment material. Once you’ve read the care label, start to pre-treat the stained area with a liquid detergent and wait for 5 – 10 minutes.

Afterwards, put your garment in warm water. Start to wash it gently and use a clean cloth to scrub the stain with a detergent solution.

If you’re not happy with the results, you can repeat the same steps, but this time treat the cheese-stained area with 1/3 cup of vinegar and 2/3 cup of water. If your garment is made of fabric, put it into the washing machine and start to launder.

Dry Your Garment

After the washing cycle is over, get a soaked clean sponge and try to blot the stain to make sure the detergent solution is removed. When you remove the cheese stains, proceed to dry your garment, ideally on an outdoor clothesline.

We hope cheese stains on your clothes don’t ruin national cheese toast day for you! It’s a day that deserves celebration and brings joy to all cheese lovers!

At Laundryheap, we love cheese as much as we love doing your laundry.

If you don’t have a washing machine, just get in touch with Laundryheap! We’ll remove the cheese stains on your clothes and also launder them to perfection!

Picking The Right Napkins For Your Business

When it comes to napkins, it’s important to consider what your business expectations are and who your customers are. Every napkin is different and because of this, you need to make a few considerations before buying napkins. In this blog, we will guide you on picking the right napkins for your business.

Key Things To Consider When Picking The Right Napkins

Types of Business

The decision to choose napkins stems from what kind of business you run. If you run a café, you most likely will need to choose paper napkins that are made to be disposed of after use. Paper napkins are cheap, and they meet the criteria for hygiene and serviceability.

If you run a restaurant, you may opt for cloth napkins that are highly absorbent and easy to wash.

Laundryheap does offer commercial services so if your cloth napkins need washing, get in touch with us and we’ll clean them to professional standards and return them back to your restaurant within 24 hours!

Picking the right napkins for your business

Menu

When picking the right napkins for your business, consider your menu. Most restaurants and pubs use a static menu; one that doesn’t change quite often. If your restaurant happens to have these menus, both paper and cloth napkins will suit just fine. If your restaurant has a special birthday occasion or a large gathering, it’s best to use paper napkins as you can expect a high turnover of customers.

Be sure to choose napkins that are aesthetically vibrant and match the theme of your restaurant.

If your restaurant is a buffet, you will need highly absorbent and long paper napkins. Customers will be cleaning up very often so make sure you are prepared to order loads.

Napkins. Restaurant. business

Material

Material is everything when you are searching for napkins. For a restaurant, we recommend picking a material that is durable, reusable and highly absorbent.

Cotton napkins in particular are known to be extremely thick and durable, and they come with the reputation of being hypoallergenic.

In comparison, linen napkins are more lightweight but because of their soft material, they dry quickly after being wet.

Linen napkins that are organic and textured are great for outdoor seating as they add to the ambience of your restaurant.

Picking the right napkins for your business requires research and it’s not easy. We hope we’ve guided you in the decision-making process.

A friendly reminder, we do offer laundry services for restaurants, bakeries, and cafés. If you need your work uniforms, table linens, napkins or aprons cleaned, just get in touch with us!

What You’ll Need to Remove Egg Stains

Before we get cracking, these are the list of supplies you will need to remove the egg stains:

  • Spoon (or a butter knife)
  • Brush
  • Water (salt is optional)
  • Liquid Laundry detergent

Instructions on Removing Egg Stains

After you’ve got all your supplies ready, it’s time to rescue your clothes!

  1. Firstly, use your spoon to remove the egg stain from the outside of your clothes. Don’t worry too much about the inside of your fabric for now. Scraping the stained part to remove as much of the egg as possible. This also works with a butter knife.
  • When you’ve done scraping with a spoon, proceed to rinse your egg-stained clothes with cold water and start scraping the egg-stained part to soften it.

Additionally, we strongly advise against using hot water. Eggs are protein; hot water will only cook the protein and will damage the fabric!

  • After you’ve used a spoon and finished rinsing your clothes, we recommend putting a laundry detergent (read the label first) on the egg-stained part for better and cleaner results. Simply pour a detergent directly onto the egg stain and using the same brush as before, spread it out. It’s important to stay patient as egg stains do need care and attention.
  • Fourthly, you will need to load your egg-stained clothes into the washing machine. To make the cleaning process more seamless, don’t rinse off the liquid detergent.

However, before you do load, always read the labels on your clothes for better care.

  • Moreover, place the correct amount of liquid detergent into the washing machine. If you feel unsure about the correct dose, use a pre-treat cap to guide you.
  • Start your washing machine with the regular cycle and the hottest temperature (depending on the instructions and labels on your clothes.
  • After your cycle is finished, unload to check if the egg stains are removed. If you’re happy with the results, start to dry your clothes!

Yes, you will have an egg on your face when you realise there are egg stains on your clothes but you are now equipped with a guide to remove egg stains next time this situation occurs!

If you need help to get remove the eggs, book with us, choose a collection day and we’ll have your clothes returned to you within 24 hours! No stress, no hassle and no more egg stains!

Updates to how we handle the coronavirus situation are constantly changing. At Laundryheap, the safety of our customers is our highest priority, which is why we are remaining fully operational. In addition to our usual services, we have devised new operations to ensure the safety of our customers.

  • Essentials pack

  • NHS support initiative
  • Pay it Forward
  • High temperature wash services
  • Contactless collections and deliveries

Essentials Pack

Around the world, people have been notified by the government to limit the amount of time they spend outside. We should only be leaving our homes for the necessities- to pick up shopping or a prescription, or to exercise. To help, we have devised an Essentials Pack to help those who are unable to get the toiletries they need. Our pack includes, soap, toilet paper, washing up liquid, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, cleaning liquid and liquid soap.

The essentials pack can be purchased for personal use, for a relative, friend or family member, or to send to someone in need. We are collaborating with AGE UK to send essentials to someone in need. If you would like to contribute to the initiative, you can book an Essentials Pack and put AGE UK into the address section.

Please note: the Essentials Pack is only available whilst stocks last and is only available in London.

Discount for healthcare workers

Medical staff around the world are doing an outstanding job at combating coronavirus. We would like to thank healthcare workers by giving them 30% off of their laundry. If you are a healthcare worker, place your order and then contact our customer care team and give them your email address. Our team will verify your email address and add your 30% discount to your order before you pay. It’s our small way to thank you for everything that you are doing.

This offer is available in all cities we operate in.

NHS support initiative

With our partners Under the doormat, we are providing London NHS workers with temporary homes close to hospitals. Under the doormat provides luxury accommodation for people looking for home-stays in London, and we provide them with their linens. During Covid19, we are offering the empty homes we have near London hospitals to those NHS workers who need them.

If you are an NHS worker and would like to use the accommodation on offer, please contact: NHShomes@underthedoormat.com.

In addition, if you own an unoccupied property that you would like to offer to a key worker, contact: myhome@underthedoormat.com.

Pay it forward

We understand that covid19 isn’t easy for anyone, however, some people are more vulnerable than others. If you know someone who is considered a high risk of catching coronavirus, buy them a Laundryheap gift card and let us eliminate the potential virus from their clothing. When you buy one of our gift cards we will add an extra amount to the card as an added gift.

Giftcards are available in all cities we operate in.

High temperature wash services

To limit the risk of spreading coronavirus we are now offering a hot wash service across all cities we operate in. High temperatures have better success of killing bacteria and viruses, so we recommend taking advantage of this service to ensure that your clothing is effectively sterilised.

WARNING: Please always check the care label of your clothing before requesting a hot wash service. Delicate materials, such as silk, may be damaged if they are washed at too high a temperature.

Coronavirus advice for London

These are precarious times that we are living in. Coronavirus has gripped the world and doesn’t seem to be letting go. Everyone’s lives are drastically changing on a daily basis and we are being required to adapt as and when those changes come. 8.9 million people are currently living in London, so maintaing hygiene is essential to ensuring the population stays safe. For those living in London, these are some simple steps to help you stay safe.

  • Stay indoors
  • Only go out when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary
  • Stockpile- but don’t be selfish
  • Use your local park
  • Avoid public transport
  • Build a Whatsapp community
  • Call 111
  • Laundryheap services

Stay indoors

One of the easiest ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus is to stay indoors. If you don’t leave your home you can’t risk potentially spreading the virus to those more vulnerable than yourself. If you have a job that allows you to work from home do so. Only go outside when it is absolutely necessary. That is not to say that you should restrict the amount of fresh air that you get. If you have a garden, make sure you take regular breaks and have a walk, run or even just a sit down outside. Alternatively, open the windows in your home to allow fresh air to circulate your room. This will help eliminate that claustrophobic feeling you can get when you spend too much time indoors.

Only go out when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary

Limiting the amount of time you spend outside is essential for eliminating the spread of coronavirus. That is not to say that you can’t venture outside when it is absolutely necessary. If you are running low on food you can still visit your local store, however, try and take some precautions. Only visit your local stores and try and avoid supermarkets. Try and go shopping after peak times. Alternatively, if it’s toiletry essentials that you are in need of, order an Essentials Pack and we will deliver it directly to your home. Remember, the less people you come into contact with the better.

Other than shopping, you can leave you home to pick up prescriptions you need to take. A quick trip to your local pharmacy is not going to be detrimental to your health, however, to avoid any risks, look up whether you can get your prescription sent to you instead. Alternatively, if you are elderly, have underlying health issues, or are considered a high risk, get a family member, friend or neighbour to pick up your prescription for you and leave it outside your door. You do not want to take any risks.

Stockpile- but don’t be selfish

As previously stated, you can still visit your local shop for food and necessities, however, try and avoid doing so as much as possible. When you do visit the shop, try and stock up on essentials that you can use to batch cook and freeze. It’s all about being thrifty and limiting your risk to others. Remember, don’t just think about food, think about essential toiletries such as hand wash and toilet paper.

As useful as it is to stock up on the essentials, remain mindful of others. We are all experiencing this pandemic and we all need to buy the essentials. If you are already well stocked up on food, toilet roll and hand wash, leave what’s left in the shops for those who need it.

Use parks to get exercise

Your availability to go outside is limited, however, if you aren’t in quarantine, you can venture outside for one hour a day to do some form of exercise. There are 3,000 parks across the 32 boroughs that make up London. Utilise the closest park to you and use it to stretch your legs and do some exercise in the fresh air. Exercise is essential at this time as it releases endorphins that can help improve your mental health. We all need to remain positive at this time and this is one way of doing so.

Note, some London parks have closed, so before venturing out check that your local park is still open and available for you to use.

Avoid using public transport

Not everyone can work from home or take time off work at this time. To those of you who are key workers we thank you. Key workers, still need to travel to and from work, and are therefore using public transport. If you need to visit the shop or pharmacy, avoid using public transport at all costs. If your destination is within walking distance, take a walk to the shop and back again to stretch your legs. If not, use public transport when it is least likely for key workers to be doing the same. Regardless of how you travel, try and remain 2 metres away from any person you may come across.

If you are at a high-risk of contracting coronavirus, avoid leaving your house. Ask a friend, family member or neighbour to pick up whatever you need and drop it at your front door.

Build a Whatsapp community

During this time we need to be protecting those most vulnerable to coronavirus, whilst making sure that we keep ourselves sane. When we’re all self-isolating it’s easy to slip into feeling lonely and detached from the world. This is why building a Whatsapp community is helpful. Build communities of friends, family and neighbours so that you can stay in touch while your self isolating. Keep each other up to date on your health, both mental and physical. If you are able to go out, check in with others to see if you can get some shopping or pick up a prescription for anyone. Or, if you are vulnerable, ask your communities to help you out. We need to do our best to keep ourselves and others as safe as possible.

Call 111

If you are feeling unwell, or experiencing symptoms of coronavirus, call 111 immediately. In times like these we need to take every precaution possible to remain safe.

Our services

At Laundryheap, we are committed to ensuring that our customers remain as safe as possible. We are still fully operating, however, we are taking extra precautions. We are now offering a high wash service in a bid to completely eliminate bacteria from all the clothes we launder. In addition, we now run a contactless service to prevent you from coming into contact with our drivers.

Visiting Dubai: The Do’s and Do Not’s

Dubai is a city known for being technologically and architecturally advanced, yet it is incredibly traditional and religious. That is why we have made this guide of Do’s and Do Not’s for your visit to Dubai.

Do

  • Dress respectfully
  • Take taxis
  • Drink tap water
  • Leave the city
  • See the Burj Khalifa

Dress respectfully

Dubai is a traditional Islamic city so dressing conservatively is highly advised. It’s suggested that women wear loose-fitting dresses and skirts, and men trousers and jeans coupled with long sleeve tops. However, just because you have to dress conservatively, it doesn’t mean you can’t dress fashionably. Dubai is one of the capital cities of fashion, where men and women alike love to experiment with colours, fabrics, and patterns. So, be fashion-forward with your conservative attire.

Take taxis

Taxi services in Dubai are reasonably priced and a great way to escape the heat and travel around the city. Additionally, if you are planning a wild Dubai night out, it’s best to plan to get to the club via taxi. It’s an offence in Dubai to be seen on the street intoxicated and could lead to a fine or even a month in prison. Better to be safe and book your taxi to and from the club than risk a prison sentence.

Drink tap water

Despite popular debate, it is safe to drink tap water in Dubai, so give it a taste. If you are still dubious, there are hotels that will import bottled water from Europe, however, due to the lack of environmental sustainability importation promotes, drinking imported water should be avoided. Instead, ask for locally sourced bottled water to avoid the harm to the environment and avoid the tap.

Leave the city

Dubai is a beautiful cosmopolitan city, but there is a lot to explore just outside the city walls. Take a trip to the desert one day and experience life beyond the city of Dubai. Desert safari experiences can be bought at a range of prices, and often involve a camel ride. Go wild for a day and return to the civilisation of the city later on.

See the Burj Khalifa

No Dubai trip is complete without seeing the Burj Kalifa. Standing 829 meters tall, the Burj Kalifa is the tallest building in the world and an architectural sight to behold. You can pay to see Dubai from the buildings viewing platform 555 meters up, or be shadowed by the building as you observe it, for free, from below. Either way, your trip to Dubai will not be complete without visiting this spectacular structure.

Don’t

  • Wear swimwear away from the water
  • Take photos of government buildings
  • Eat or drink in public during Ramadan
  • Engage in PDA
  • Make big plans on a Friday

Wear swimwear away from the water

As previously discussed, Dubai has a conservative dress code; this code also applies to swimwear. When at the beach or a pool it is completely acceptable to wear any form of swimwear that you desire. However, as soon as you step out of the water, you must be conscious of your clothing and consider throwing on a dress or shirt over your swimwear.

Take photos of government buildings

Regardless of where you go on holiday you always want to take a few snaps for the memories. Dubai is home to some of the most extraordinary modern-day buildings that, undoubtedly, need to be caught on camera. This being said, be mindful not to capture any government buildings as, for security reasons, this is strictly prohibited.

Eat or drink in public during Ramadan

During the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims will take part in Ramadan where they will fast during daylight hours. If you are visiting Dubai during Ramadan the locals won’t expect you to take part in the festival, however, you must be respectful towards those who are. If you want to eat and drink during daylight hours there are a handful of cafes and restaurants that stay open, however, you’re options will be limited. Alternatively, you can eat and drink in your room until the sun goes down.

Engage in PDA

Public Displays of Affection (PDA) are a strong offense in Dubai. Everything from a kiss on the cheek to hugging in public is considered indecent. At a push, a married couple may hold hands, but even that is pushing the boundaries of acceptability. To avoid causing offense, it’s best to save showering your other half in affection until you return to your hotel room.

Make big plans on a Friday

Friday is considered a holy day in Dubai and is therefore not for working. Don’t worry, the whole city doesn’t grind to a halt, but you should expect there to be a limited number of amenities open. Bear this in mind when planning your Dubai trip and consider having a beach day on Friday.

Whatever you’re plans are in Dubai, do make sure that you use Laundryheap for all your holiday laundering needs and do not miss out on the opportunity to enjoy your trip in the freshest smelling clothes.

5 Laundry Myths Vs Facts

There are many, many laundry myths that have been going on for quite some time. Some of which you already know the truth about and some laundry myths you’ve probably never heard of.

Well, here are 5 common laundry myths, debunked!

laundry myths vs facts

MYTH #1: Adding more detergent will make your clothes cleaner

FACT: Too much detergent will be hard for the water to breakdown which will result to  build up as it creates an extra layer on your clothing. Totally opposite to getting cleaner clothes!

MYTH #2: Hot washes can clean better than cold washes

FACT: It’s true that hot washes are great for killing bacteria and heavily soiled garments. Cold water washes will clean just as great but it won’t sanitise them. Unfortunately, not all fabrics and garments can handle the heat of hot washes, as it can ruin and discolour lot of fabrics, especially dedicates. But don’t worry, choosing the right laundry detergent and right cycle will get your clothes clean even on a cold cycle.

MYTH #3: Heat from tumble dryers shrink clothes

FACT: There are a few factors as to why your clothes shrink. Shrinkage can actually occur when in an inappropriate wash cycle as it tampers with the fabric. The heat from tumble dryers are not the cause of shrinkage but the heat and aggressive action is what can cause it.

MYTH #4: All laundry detergents work the same way

FACT: They’re all created differently, catering to specific cleaning purposes. Read our blog about the right laundry detergent to get a quick overview of the differences.

MYTH #5: Double or triple washing means cleaner clothes

FACT: You won’t need to think about a second or third wash if you’re cleaning properly the first time. Save time by organising and putting the right amount of everything in.

GET THE LOOK: Stylish Laundry Room On A Budget

How great would it be if your laundry room was welcoming you? Like wouldn’t you have the motivation to do laundry then? Because I know I would if my laundry room looked stylish and presentable.

If you’re looking to spice up your laundry room but don’t want to splash out too much ££ money, then look no further with our stylish laundry room guide- budget edition.

First things first, let’s check that you have these laundry room essentials:

Foldable drying rack: Great for natural air drying and most importantly, for those delicate garments that can’t be put into the dryer. Foldable drying racks can be used outside or indoors and folded away when not in use. It’s pretty much portable and easily accessible too.

Mesh bags: Just a little bag to put your delicate clothes in before you throw them into the washing machine- this is so that it doesn’t catch on to other clothing (bras) and the fabric doesn’t get ruined.

Divided Hamper: Great for sorting laundry on-the-go and definitely time saving too! If you haven’t already, get yourself a divided hamper to separate your whites, darks, and colours. The best thing about this is your laundry is already sorted way before putting it into the washing machine. Quite useful, eh?

An Ironing board: Yeah. I think most of us, if not everyone, has an ironing board.

Decor

Walls: In my opinion, simple designs make for a chic style. So,  if you’re planning to re-do your walls, I’d say paint it a blank canvas- a light pastel colour or just white!- so you can put up some framed pictures or paintings to give it that edgy look.

For those of you that want a design on your walls, I’d recommend something subtle and not so over powering that the walls are the only thing that’s noticed. Try a faint coloured, consistent pattern and avoid contrasting colours. Now you can either buy wallpaper or create a stencil to paint over if you have a particular preference.

laundry room

Built in storage: Laundry room storage is an absolute MUST. I mean you have many supplies that you use for your laundry routine such as laundry detergent, fabric conditioner etc.

Here are a few ways you can go about creating great storage space in your laundry room, just pick the one(s) which most suits your budget:

  • Baskets: Like the cheapest of the storage options is to have baskets. The perfect type of baskets for a chic look for your laundry room are woven ones.
  • Floating Shelves: Floating shelves are good for storing items that you don’t mind putting on display. So in terms of using it in your laundry room, you can use them to display your towels, put mini baskets on them and display items of interests (pictures or candles).
  • Rail rack: Great for hanging those garments that need to be kept hung straight after coming out of the washing machine and good for avoiding creases and wrinkles (less ironing)!
  • Cabinets: Cabinets are a great way to hide your stash of laundry supplies. Not only are they great for health and safety if you have little ones, but they will keep your laundry room looking tidy and organised. Try looking for used, in-good-condition cabinets if you can’t splash out for a new one.

22300532042_57c22889c2_b

Rug: You’re probably thinking, why would you put a rug in your laundry room? I’ll tell you why. Adding a rug to your laundry room will not only give it a unique touch, but it will give it that warm welcoming feel and cosiness so you can feel comfy doing the laundry.

laundry room

Pretty little things: One you’ve got an idea of how your laundry room is going to look like, start to think about displaying items of that which will make you happy such as: a motivational quote, home plants, Potpourri, a laundry sign, a jar of dirt etc.
